The ancient world undoubtedly produced some of the best architectural structures – the Pyramids of Giza, the Brihadeshwara Temple, the Great Wall of China, and so on… In some cases, modern architects have still not been able to ascertain how such amazing structures were built given the limited technology at that period. However, we naturally strive for betterment and thus the modern period has given birth to some great architectural wonders too. Here we shall discuss some of them. The list is certainly not exhaustive. It reinforces the fact that we are only limited by our imagination. And if we have the power to imagine it, then with the right resources, we can give life to our imagination.

  • The National Centre for Performing Arts, Beijing

The structure is colloquially known as the giant egg. It is almost a cylindrical structure with smooth curves. The body is surrounded by water which reflects the beautiful structure. This makes it look more beautiful. The center hosts opera, theatre, and music events. It has separate venues for each of these events.

  • The Tokyo Skytree is one of the tallest structures in the world. It has a breath-taking design. A striking feature of this building is it has seismic proofing which means it can negate the effects of an earthquake. Given the fact that Japan is an earthquake-prone zone, this is a smart and valuable move by the architects.
  • The Petronas Towers in Malaysia was the tallest buildings for six years from 1998 to 2004. They remain the tallest in the twin structures category. The sky bridge that connects the two towers was added mainly for stability. However, you can walk over from one tower to another through the sky bridge.
  • Burj Khalifa, UAE is currently the tallest structure in the world. It looks stunning especially when it is lit up after sunset. It has 160 stories. It is a whopping 829.8 meters tall!
